A new melody for Ein Kelokeinu by Eitan Kantor
This new melody for Ein Kelokeinu by Eitan B Kantor is certainly different--as a long-time folk-dancer, I'm guessing it's a Balkan version (7 beats to a measure?). I like it!
A tallit-and-tefillin-wearing woman in a traditional Conservative synagogue?! An unorthodox—and non-orthodox—perspective on Jews and Judaism from a perpetual misfit. This blog, welcoming the entire Jewish community, is dedicated to those who take Judaism seriously, but not necessarily literally.

I'm not opposed to new tunes, but that is truly atrocious.
Personally, I would describe this melody as unconventional. I think it's more a concert piece than a congregational piece, because it has a rhythm with which many people are unfamiliar.

This is a great piece! Synagogues (usually the cantor) commissioning one prayer or even a whole service has been happening since at least the 1960’s.

Paula Pepperstone, that just shows how far behind I am in learning new Jewish music. I really got started only around 2018 or so. It's good to know that so many synagogues have been commissioning new Jewish music since long before I knew much about it. Thanks for the info.
